I am currently teaching in a special education classroom with student needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities and emotional and behavior disorders. I have field experience in teaching students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities and non-verbal learners. My international teaching experiences include studies in Brussels, Belgium in Art Education. I am responsible for teaching remedial and intensive reading and math. My excitement for the classroom has been recognized by being named as a member of the Master Teacher observation team. For the past two years, I have received extremely positive evaluations from both the school based and district evaluation teams, which can be made available upon your request.
My after school hours are flexible as well as weekends to meet the needs of your busy family. I do ask for a 24 hour notice of cancellation.
My background is in the resource classroom providing intensive reading and vocabulary instruction to students who are one or more grade levels behind. Many of my students experience growth and most importantly a better understanding of phonics and vocabulary.
My undergraduate degree is in Special Education and my field experience allowed me the opportunity to work with students with reading and math disabilities as well as autism, ADHD and emotional disorders. I have 6 years' experience working with these special learners and consider it an awesome task to help them make progress.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I teach a resource classroom that has an intensive focus on growing struggling readers. I have taught in this setting for three years and have worked with students with severe reading and language disabilities. My position requires me to research and implement new strategies and methods to help keep learners engaged and excited about reading!
I have a B.A. in Special Education and will complete my M.Ed in Divergent (non-traditional) learning. I have 6 years total teaching students with various disabilities including deaf and hard of hearing, reading disabilities, math disabilities, language impairments, emotional disorders and autism.
