Our future relies within the next generation. As a military veteran, I understand this concept very well. From a young age, I was charged with the responsibility of ensuring the development of better citizens. During my tenure at the Citadel, I was responsible for the daily activities, academic development and well-being of 42 cadets. As a cadet, I employed unique learning methods to instruct my subordinates on how to function in a military environment. Additionally, I was assigned two foreign exchange students from allied nations. I was directly responsible for overseeing the daily training, acclimation and cultural awareness. One the the cadets followed the religion of Islam. I had an opportunity to work with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) which hosted an internship aimed at assisting immigrant children with thier reading a writing skills. Though my encounters of various religions, customs as well as cultures, I was groomed for success during my military career.

I served as the primary advisor to three Afghan National Army (ANA) officers and over 32 soldiers, targeting technical proficiency as well as providing guidance on methods of enabling solid communication for over 1000 users. I had to overcome language barrier in order to mentor soldiers in a austere environment. At the conclusion of my deployment, I was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal. At the conclusion of my military service, I served as a commanding officer of a unit that consisted of over 200 Marines; many of whom were recent high school graduates. I was charged with their personal and professional development of America's most prized possession; our children.
