Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Desktop Publishing

As the student government, yearbook and school newspaper advisor(s), I have had extensive experience using Desktop Publishing Software to existing materials or work with designers and writers to create new artwork or text. I have found and edited graphics, such as photographs or illustrations. I have used scanners to turn drawings and other materials into digital images. I have also import text and graphics into desktop publishing software programs.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified South Carolina and Georgia teacher. I taught Elementary for 6 years. In teaching Elementary grades I taught reading (phonics), writing, math, science, health and social studies.

Study Skills

As a High School 9th-12th teacher, especially as a resource teacher, I work with students and their study skills on a daily basis. I work in groups or pairs and review previously taught information using a review sheet and their own study techniques. I use various techniques to review information taught one method that works well is the; rapid-fire questions and the kids answer. In my classroom as a part of our study skills lessons I set goals and priorities with my students. I teach my students the process of establishing a goal, and creating and following through on a plan to accomplish that goal. My students and I work on eliminating the obstacles to concentration and we created create individual study plans.
