About Will

Bio

Personally, I've had very little experience tutoring, but I hope that isn't a deterrence. I have a heart for not only learning alone, but with group learning and helping others as I go along. I've served on several trips with youth in the past, so I do have some experience working with kids (mostly 1-6 grades). I typically find my experience working with kids and even high school students to be incredibly fulfilling for myself and hopefully for those I've worked with in the past!

Personally, I've had very little experience tutoring, but I hope that isn't a deterrence. I have a heart for not only learning alone, but with group learning and helping others as I go along. To me, I love the idea of helping those in need, especially if I can provide them with the information they need. On top of that, I feel that I end up learning a significant amount about myself at the same time.

In all honesty, I put math on here simply due to my previous experience. I rarely work with math anymore due to my pursuit of an English degree, but I did love math in high school and my first semester of college. Particularly, I love the structure of algebra, and believe it or not, I actually think it is pretty fun. I made a 5 on the AP Calculus test my senior year of high school before making a high B in Calculus 1 at Clemson University, so I've had considerable experience despite not doing math for a while. That being said, if you're looking for someone who is involved with math on a more regular basis, then I may not be the best tutor for your situation. But, I'm happy to help and feel I still maintain enough knowledge and passion to tutor math in some capacity.

I believe I can be an outstanding English major due to my experience. At Clemson, I am an English major on top of having two minors. That being said, I read a lot and all of the time. Last semester, I typically read 60 pages a day (M-F), and often I would read a 250 page novel within a work week. I say that not to brag but to demonstrate that I understand what goes into reading and the time it takes to be a successful reader. Coming into Clemson, I never read like I was supposed to, but over my time here, I have developed habits that help me maintain a good reading schedule where I get everything done and retain what I should.

As for Writing, I have written dozens of essays in college, and I believe they have progressed tremendously throughout my time. I've written on everything from Shakespeare, moral psychology, philosophy, and classic literature. I'm more than happy to go over everything from the general basic and guidelines for good writing all the way up to more finite intricacies that can push your paper to another level.

As for English as a whole, I spend 5 days of the week in classes discussing how English works. As in, how does the language work in a text to make us think, feel, or react a certain way. That being said, I believe I have the tools to analyze a text and make an argument about its purpose and significance.

I hope that, no matter what, you find the tutor YOU need for your personal success. Sure, I'd love for an opportunity to work with you, but your success is key. If anyone is interested, please message me and I'll respond as quickly as I can! Thanks so much!
