I’ve obtained my BS in Pure Mathematics, my MS in Applied Mathematics and working to obtain my PhD in Mathematical and Statistical Sciences currently at Clemson University.

During my undergraduate years, I volunteered in Elementary Education at Bessemer Elementary in Greensboro NC. During the process of obtaining my masters and working on my doctorate, I have taught mathematics at the high school, community college and university level. All of my time is spent studying different math subjects, their applications, and finding ways to explain mathematical concepts to students so that comprehending the material seems natural and effortless. For me, there is no such thing as a dumb question.

I pride myself on providing quality assistance for a large selection of math subjects. If you do not see a math class listed under wyzant, feel free to send me a message concerning your math subject of interest. Whether you just need a few lessons or several, require last minute assistance or want to get ahead of your class, I am always happy to help!

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Having your child understand and master mathematical concepts is very important at a young age. My goal is not have them memorize formulas and not understand why they are doing the math, but to help them see the purpose and reasoning in each step, and to challenge them so that they can see the math in their every day lives.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I was a Teacher Assistant at North Carolina A&T State University that instructed students in Algebra 1. I also held problem sessions for students where they could work on problems as individuals or as groups while having the option to ask me any questions.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I was a Teacher Assistant at North Carolina A&T State University, where I instructed students in Algebra 2, and held problem sessions where students could practice problems as individuals or in groups while having the option to ask me any questions.
Calculus,

Calculus

I have math journals dedicated to explaining the concepts of calculus; attempting to make it simple or less formal so that any student can understand it without getting lost. It is important to remember that the Calculus sequence builds on top of itself, so it is important that you thoroughly understand a concept prior to tackling another.
Geometry,

Geometry

During my undergraduate years, I would tutor middle school children in geometry concepts. I believe an understanding in geometry is accomplished through using shapes for explanation, as well as using coloring utensils to identify specific geometric terms.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

While teaching at a High School, I saw that a few students had be refreshed on prealgebra concepts because they had gotten confused with some of the basic rules needed to learn the math of the class.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I have taught and tutored Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, etc. Since I have been in graduate school, I have also held problem sessions for students so that they can become more proficient in their math. I have also tutored middle school students, and volunteered to help teach math to elementary school students at Bessemer Elementary School.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I have taken a class in differential equations, systems of differential equations, and I will be taking a class in partial differential equations. I am also doing research which requires knowledge of differential equations.
Finite Math,

Finite Math

While working on my B.S. in Mathematics and my M.S. in Applied Mathematics, I tutored students in finite math. Finite math is a class covering different math areas such as linear programming, introductory probability and linear algebra. I have taken separate classes in each of these areas as well. I am also a foreign currency trader, so I know about the calculation of inflation rates, future and present payments, as well as valuation of bonds.
Geometry,

During my undergraduate years, I would tutor middle school children in geometry concepts. I believe an understanding in geometry is accomplished through using shapes for explanation, as well as using coloring utensils to identify specific geometric terms.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

I have taken a linear algebra and matrix theory class, as well as higher mathematical classes the require linear algebra as a prerequisite such as dynamical systems.
Logic,

Logic

I have taken a math proof logic course, as well as philosophy class on logic. In the philosophy class I studied concepts different types of arguments, truth tables, etc.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Lee helped my son understand his algebra homework. My son seems very excited to have a better understanding of his assignments due to Lee’s ability to break down the math problems

Great tutor

Lee helped me make sense of some probability problems. He patiently showed me how to approach a question, broke down the important key words and translated that into 'math language' so that I can connect theory lectures to application. Great tutor.

He is a brilliant and marvelous teacher. I am so glad to be with him.

He is helpful and thoughtful. He makes the lessons very easy to understand and interesting. I am so lucky to be with him and I hope to keep going to the end.

The best tutor!!

Lee helped me with my calculus AB class last year, and this year he is helping me with my calculus C class. No matter how overwhelming math class feels, I know Lee will help me understand! He has saved me from so much stress and confusion. I really appreciate Lee’s enthusiastic encouragement when I take a correct step. His patient and friendly style of tutoring has helped me succeed in classes that I never thought I could conquer. Thanks Lee :)

Best Tutor I’ve Ever Had

Lee is a very patient, funny, wonderful tutor. I am a girl who hates math with a passion, and was extremely defeated when I took the GRE my first time, and received a score of 144. Lee completely changed that score around, garnering me a 12 point increase, more than enough for ANY doctoral program. He addressed each problem with patience, and we worked collaboratively to figure out each problem. I’m extremely grateful!

Knows the subject very well and is patient when going through it

Lee is very good at allowing you to understand it yourself while making sure you understand it. He answers every question well and is a very good change of pace from the rapid movement of a normal calculus class. I recommend utilizing him once or twice a week in order to really stay on top of the subject. Great tutor.

Excellent and Thorough

Lee is an excellent tutor who makes a solid connection with my rambunctious twins. He is patient and thorough which is what they need. Wyzant takes out the hassle of having to drive around to tutoring places. It is a very good system that works for our family.

Talented, knowledgeable and superb Calculus Instructor!

My son is a second year college student taking a bio medical Calculus course this quarter. He's slated to receive on campus tutoring but in the interim wanted, and needed, help fast. That's where Lee stepped in. I found him among many other experienced Calculus tutors which seemed ideal for my son. After their first session together, it turns out, my instincts were correct. My son understands the concepts far better than he did prior to meeting with Lee. Lee was successful in explaining the concepts in a way that resonated with my son. Needless to say, my son will return for more help throughout the school quarter. I highly recommend Lee to other students, or to mothers of students looking for extra help for their son or daughter.
