About Joanna

I attended graduate school at the University of South Carolina where I pursued degrees a master’s degree in Educational Research and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Research. While working on my degrees, I conducted research, program evaluation studies, and I taught educational psychology.

My teaching experiences were so important to me in my professional and personal growth that I decided to focus my research on studying teachers. Thus, I wrote my dissertation on how graduate students develop as teachers. Since graduation, I have worked for the University of South Carolina, the University of Texas-Austin, and now Kennesaw State University and Charleston County School District in South Carolina. My work has largely focused on promoting and measuring teaching effectiveness. I

also continue to teach in-person classes and online classes, accumulating about 10 years of teaching experience in higher education. In addition, I have published many manuscripts in peer-reviewed academic journals and I am currently co-editing a special volume of a journal. My work includes qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods studies. I enjoy supporting student research projects, data analysis, and writing.

Ability to provide specific, constructive feedback. Experience in writing for multiple audiences.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
