Hi, my name is Christine C. I have been involved in education for several years. I majored in American Sign Language with a minor in special education. During school, I taught English at the School for the Deaf in Knoxville, Tennessee. Following that, I completed graduate coursework at Anderson University in literacy and taught Early Reading Intervention for first through third graders. In addition to the traditional classroom setting, I have been actively involved in a non-profit organization that benefits special needs children for Equestrian Therapy where I organize events and fundraisers and participate with therapy sessions.
I have an insatiable love for reading and learning new things. While I have loved my experience in the public school system, I also love the one on one connections I build as a tutor. I know the feeling to struggle with a subject, working hard to grasp it, and then being proud when it begins to make sense. Sometimes as a struggling student, one on one instruction without the pressures of the classroom and a new, unique approach to the material can be helpful and empowering. I will try my hardest to help the students I work with succeed.
I am fluent in the language and have experiencing working with Deaf students as both a student teacher at the School for the Deaf in Knoxville, TN and as an interpreter in the elementary setting.
I am an avid reader of all kinds including young adult literature, non-fiction, historical fiction, mystery, and many others. In my undergraduate career I took several English classes as electives including 21st century literature and British literature.
I love seeing students make connections in their mind and begin to understand difficult subjects. Learning is the most empowering thing someone can do for themselves. and I will work hard to help you achieve those goals while also making the material relevant and fun! Contact me to schedule a time to work together. Hi, my name is Christine C. I have been involved in education for several years. I majored in American Sign Language with a minor in special education. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
