My passion is working with students who are struggling readers. I have taught K-12 for 16 years. I worked in higher education for 3 1/2 years as an Academic Advisor. I work with several students who are dyslexic and I have a child that has dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. I love the one-on-one tutoring because it allows me to become more familiar with my student and it helps me focus on what is needed for my student to be successful. I currently use the Barton Reading and Spelling System to help my students in reading.
I have training and experience in several leadership roles and methods. I am skilled in addressing student needs, working and ensuring students will thrive and develop in an adaptable educational atmosphere. I am skilled with working with students who have reading disabilities at different levels. I possess interpersonal and communication skills to develop an excellent rapport with all members of the educational community.

I was one of the proofreaders for the semester brochure for Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College. I also was the co-worker everyone sent me their documentation for me to review and make corrections.

I taught K-4 grade for 10+ years. I know how to teach students phonics and make it fun to learn. Tutoring students of young ages also allows me to teach phonics. This being said, I am currently working on my EdD in Reading and Literacy.
