I have been in the accounting industry for my entire working career. I started out as a cashier/sales associate during my high school years at Hilton Head High. I graduated in 1996 and got a job as a bank teller. I quickly became the security administrator and customer service representative due to my love of learning and helping others learn proper procedures. I also worked for a local contractor as a receptionist/office administrator during this time. I fell into an accounts payable position while looking for a full time job to support myself financially through college. This position steered me in the direction of accounting as a career.
Since then, I have had a few jobs, all in the accounting field, but my favorite was taking time off during my children's primitive years from 2005-2011 to be a stay at home mom. I home schooled (Connections Academy) for four of those years. The best part of that experience was being able to learn while my children learned and to be able to communicate with them the importance of ongoing education.
I feel it is imperative that people understand their financial status now and to set goals for their future financial position; whether that is in a personal or business environment. You can't understand where you are going if you don't understand where you are. My goal is to assist in this understanding for those who are interested and willing to learn.
