I have taught English for 34 years. Throughout my years of teaching I have been a strong advocate of reading. The majority of my career focused on middle school. My last five years of teaching dealt with eighth graders who were taking English I. I love to instill in children a love for reading.
I have taught all levels of students during my career. Students ranging from those with learning disabilities as well as those who are college bound can benefit from tutoring. I have also tutored Title I students. Working one on one with students can provide them with that extra edge and can also be used as a sounding board, which students often need when they become frustrated.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
