I have been living in Tiverton since I retired from the Air Force years ago. Counting my time now as an ROTC instructor, I have a total of 26 years' military service and for the last fifteen years or so, I have been employed as a teacher/instructor, first in Massachusetts and now in Rhode Island and I am a certified History teacher in both states as well. I am also a published writer, having had my first novel published last year.
The fields I have most experience with are:
Life After School
I also have experience in the fields of World History, European History, Resume Writing, Survival, and a few more. I've been able to work with children from all different backgrounds, and my greatest joy is when they return to offer thanks for the information I was able to pass on to them.
Feel free to contact me for your children and I will set up an appointment to meet with you and your child. Thanks I have been living in Tiverton since I retired from the Air Force years ago. Daniel tutored me for the ASVAB test. He was great. Very knowledgeable on the subject matter as well as many other areas associated with entering the military.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been helping my students prepare for and take the GED exam for many years. The GED exam is not easy to pass and I have found that with the help of GED exam prep books and a little encouragement from an educator, that students do better. I have been teaching a variety of subjects within my school district and have filled in as a substitute teacher in a majority of fields. I believe that I can help students succeed.

I am a certified teacher and have used the knowledge I have learned to assist students in passing not only the ASVAB, but other exams as well.

Currently I teach a required course for the Air Force dealing with career paths. I have developed lessons and tests for my students, covering things such as resume writing, college preparation, career searching, and basic needs. In my lessons, I have created specific topics, such as how to find and lease or buy a car, how to find an apartment within ones budget, and how to accomplish day to day tasks, such as check writing, or how to open a savings account. At the present time, I am teaching twenty students about what they can expect after they graduate from school. I have also talked at great length about military service and what life is like in this career choice.
I am currently teaching a course for a JROTC unit involving Public Speaking in a public high school in Rhode Island. One of the ways I have found to be successful in this subject is to have my students face their fears by teaching an entire period, allowing them to develop a lesson that puts them at ease, while delivering the main points of the lesson.
I have been a certified History teacher for over fifteen years and have helped students study and prepare for exams, mostly on a secondary level and feel that I would have the qualifications to assist older students who are looking to brush up on previous subjects before taking an exam.
