I am a professional artist, am a history buff, love to read, enjoy nature and helping others. I am fifty-two years old and have been teaching confirmation at a Catholic church in Tiverton the past four years. I became interested in teaching when I volunteered to teach the class. I am currently pursuing my Associates degree at CCRI in Warwick. I have done some tutoring in the Providence school system. I have been showing my artwork in local and National galleries for fifteen years now. I enjoy working with young people and helping others.
I think I have the advantage of age and experience on my side. Although I do not have a degree in any field, I believe I have a lot to give to a young person who wants to learn and has a desire to be successful in life. At my age I have already made many of the mistakes my students are likely to make. I think reading and following ones dream are keys to enjoying a healthy life. I am a Catholic and I will also pass on some moral values to my students.
I have a tremendous interest in The Civil War, the Founding of our country and ancient civilization.
I have been painting and drawing my whole life, I began oil painting when I was a student at RISD in a summer program. I have a large body of work and an excellent artist resume. I have worked in just about every medium including, clay, pencil charcoal, pastel, oil, acrylic and watercolor. I have studied the human figure and paint landscapes from life and memory every day.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took a summer course at RISD when I was twelve, studied art at CCRI for a year, and took Fantasy illustration at RISD. I believe in drawing from life and a good foundation in composition before a student begins to paint. Drawing is the key.
I have been painting since I was twelve years old, when I took a summer class at The Rhode Island School of Design. I studied art for two years at CCRI in Warwick and am currently working towards an Associates degree. I paint landscapes from life and show my work in local and regional galleries. In March 2014 I had a solo show at Colo Colo gallery in New Bedford, Mass.
