Currently earning my Sc.B. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Math at Brown University, I have broad knowledge in the natural sciences thanks to coursework in calculus, physics, chemistry, materials science, geophysics, climate science, and more. I have proficiency in four languages and am a seasoned solo and orchestral flutist, having studied with widely renowned artists.

Whether your goal is to improve your grades in class, prep for a standardized test, or strengthen particular skills, I'll help you achieve it!

Throughout my journey, I have found that the greatest bursts of insight and discovery hinge on having the right presentation of curiosity. I have had the fortune of meeting several remarkable mentors along my path who served in such a narrative role; they were detectives of truth who have my greatest admiration. That is what I, in turn, hope to pass along to you. So let's put in the work!

Outside of teaching, you can find me on campus. Catch me in the Center for Language Studies and in the various language departments. In the evenings, I am rotating principal flutist of the Brown University Orchestra.

Coucou ! I have been a speaker of French since childhood―in settings both social and academic―and have a C1 level on the CEFR scale. At present, I have personal experience preparing for the AP French Exam, the French SAT Subject Test, and Le Grand Concours National French Exam. Having grown up in a multilingual family, I took a deliberate approach to foreign language learning from an early age, including during summers spent with my grandfather, who was an official French interpreter for the United Nations. Thanks to these opportunities, I've become particularly acquainted with the grammatical challenges and idiosyncrasies of learning French—more so than most native speakers!

Algebra is intricate. Algebra can also prove to be a source of major frustration. Speaking from personal experience, I actually struggled with algebraic manipulation in my secondary school years. However, with practice and some exceptional educators, I strengthened my understanding and achieved a full score of 800 on the SAT Math 2 Subject Test, which is heavily based in Algebra. Nowadays, I use essential Algebra skills all the time in my engineering work. Whether you're shooting for a particular exam score or aiming to improve your performance in class, I'm glad to help you succeed!

Calculus can be elegant. Calculus can also prove to be a source of major frustration. I have experience preparing for the AP Calculus AB and Calculus BC Exams (having scored a 5 in each) as well as experience up through college-level multivariable/vector calculus. Whether you're shooting for a certain exam score or you're aiming to improve your performance in class, I'm here to boost you to success! I have experience prepping for the SAT Physics Subject Test (having achieved a score of 800) and prepping for the AP Physics Exams (1+2+C), on which I achieved a score of 5. The joys of physics spring up repeatedly in my life...but it wasn't always this way! In my early years of school, it was my least favorite subject. With practice, inspiration, and some phenomenal mentors, I grew to love physics profoundly, and it became my strongest subject. You can find me on the campus of Brown University, where I am earning my Sc.B. in Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, I have completed coursework toward majors in Physics, Geophysics, and Climate Science. As such, I have a broad range of knowledge and experience in the physical sciences.

Flute

Flute

I am rotating principal flutist of the Brown University Orchestra (BUO) as well as an avid chamber musician at Brown University, where I am completing my undergraduate degree. Prior to university, I attended a top pre-conservatory program and studied under Judith Mendenhall of the Mannes School of Music. Additionally, I have appeared in masterclasses with faculty of The Juilliard School and world-renowned professors of flute performance. I played 1st Flute in the NJ All-State Orchestra as well as 1st Flute in the NJ All-State Wind Ensemble. In 2015, I had the honor of playing 2nd Flute in the NAfME All-National Symphony Orchestra. It is my belief that playing the flute is quite an athletically involved experience! Having studied biomechanics and breathing techniques, I have a nuanced understanding of "the little things" that go into good flute playing but that sometimes get lost in communication between teacher and student. As a mechanical engineer with experience in instrument repair, I also have a thorough knowledge of modern flute manufacturers and would be more than happy to advise you on upgrading to the right instrument!

Expert and responsive tutor

Daniel was very responsive to our requests and needs for learning. He is very competent in teaching flute, and has an excellent interpersonal communication. He helped my child to improve in her audition piece in two sessions. We're very thankful and will definitely return as needed.
