I'm a current undergraduate at Brown University studying Biology on the pre-med track with the goal of eventually becoming a pediatrician. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, hiking, traveling, and tutoring. I'm passionate about teaching and love working with children. I love tutoring, and teaching in general, because of the joy it brings to students when they are able to solve a problem independently or understand a concept they previously didn't. It's amazing to witness ideas clicking and the development of understanding.

For the past two summers, I've tutored middle school aged children in math and science from my neighborhood. I started with a diagnostic test to see where their problem areas were and created lesson plans from there, catered to each students needs. I hope to implement a similar process going forward. However, if problem areas are already known, I can create a lesson plan from the beginning. Furthermore, I also work as a swim instructor for pre-school aged children at the local YMCA. Thus, I have experience teaching children in a variety of ages and fields.

My math foundation consists of material from the basics of algebra though introductory calculus. Specifically, I took Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 in middle school, and Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus AB in high school. Additionally, I was also on the New England Math League for two years in high school, participating in monthly competitions.

Biology fascinates me in every way, and I believe that a good foundation in general biology can open many doors into the specifics, such as Microbiology, Anatomy, Evolutionary Biology, etc. Specifically, I took Honors and AP Biology in high school. I feel that my high school biology teachers were a big part of my appeal to biology. They were both engaging, knowledgeable, and made class as interactive as they could. In fact, I've even dissected a dogfish shark in my AP Biology class! Currently, I'm on track to be a Biology concentrator at Brown University and have taken Darwinian Medicine thus far and plan to take Microbiology this semester. My interest in biology, specifically human systems, such as the nervous system, endocrine system, etc, are what convinced me to pursue pre-med. Independently in high school, I'd shadowed various professionals in the medical field and volunteered for several hundred hours at local hospitals. With all this experience and exposure, I believe that I have a strong background in general biology.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
