I have a degree in Applied Mathematics from Southern New Hampshire University and have been a tutor for 20 years, specializing in standardized tests, high school and college math, high school science, college physics, and tutoring many other subjects including Excel, Word, computer programming, and literary analysis/essay writing.

My favorite subjects to tutor are Pre-calc, Calc 1 and 2, programming (various languages), and statistics. These subjects tend to have the most "fun" and creative problems.

In addition to tutoring, I have taught high school at Masters Regional Academy, taught college at New England Institute of Technology as an adjunct faculty member, and lectured at Brown University, Umass Dartmouth, and Umass Amherst.

I also have ample experience tutoring homeschool students (middle and high school levels) and generating lesson plans and a course of instruction to align with a student's (and parents') goals. I have taught science and research labs for homeschool students to accompany science lessons.

In my experience tutoring students, I have taught both high school and college students. I have experience tutoring students trying to get into ivy league schools as well as those struggling to pass a course. I find the individual's learning style and teach them the way they learn.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have been tutoring all high school and college math courses, and many science courses, for the past 20 years with students of all abilities, from those who have a phobia of math to those who are looking for a little edge to get them into a top-tier college/graduate school, including Algebra 1. I generally use the students' current knowledge and ask probing questions to get them to teach themselves the material and bring in experiences to facilitate learning (I find this Socratic method works best for retention), but, when needed, will lecture.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I was an Applied Math major and took graduate courses in Ordinary, advanced Ordinary, and Partial Differential equations (ODE, AAODE, and PDE respectively). One of my undergraduate research projects used Differential Equations to map/model traffic flows of city streets. In addition to the above, I have taught ODE at the college level.
Discrete Math,

Discrete Math

I was an Applied Math major and was required to take Discrete Math/Logic. I received a 100% in the course, taught in the tutoring center, and helped write a solution manual for the instructor. I also took an Abstract Algebra course which relies on the material from Discrete Math and received a 100% in that course as well.
Finite Math,

Finite Math

I have taken all of the main topics covered in finite math (matrix math, linear algebra, programming, combinatorics, probability, statistics, and logic) receiving 100% in each course. I have also tutored or taught in a formal setting in each of these subjects.

I have also used linear algebra (specifically Tensors) for one of my undergraduate research projects studying the deep ocean.
Logic,

Logic

I was an Applied Math major and was required to take Logic as a precursor to Discrete Math. I received a 100% in this course, have used the material in Discrete Math and Abstract Algebra, and have provided corrections to the answers of our classroom text to the instructor. I use this material when tutoring Discrete Math and Abstract Algebra.
