About Eugenie

Hi there! My name is Eugenie. I recently moved to Providence after completing my MFA in Dramatic Writing at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA). I graduated from Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT) with honors in English in 2010. I love reading, writing, theater, and the arts! I am passionate about education and I love helping students achieve their academic and personal goals.

My tutoring experience began as an undergraduate student at Wesleyan University. I worked as a tutor for three years as a Writing Mentor, Teaching Assistant, and Writing Workshop Tutor. Upon graduating college, I moved to Boston to pursue a job in theater and decided to continue tutoring, but this time for a different student body. I worked as an online tutor and as an Adjunct Teaching Assistant for Ashford University. After a year in Boston, I moved back to my home-state of New York, where I worked for three years as a private tutor for middle school, high school, college, and graduate students from various cultural and educational backgrounds, as well as a home-school teacher for Academics West, a company that combines educational and therapeutic support. When in graduate school at CMU, I taught undergraduate and graduate students Introduction to TV Writing.

I firmly believe that the key to success in academia, and in life in general, is to know how to think critically, analyze, and express one's thoughts. I take this approach to tutoring. As a tutor, I believe my job is to help a student figure out what he/she thinks and how to best express those ideas.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calm, relaxed, not stressed. — Eugenie is an exceptional tutor. She has been a huge asset to Dylan’s success this year. Even if she was not familiar with an author she would read the book to know how to assist Dylan in her tutoring style. I would highly recommend Eugenie to anyone who needs guidance with Humanities. ...
