I currently hold a BA in English with a minor in Education from Providence College. I graduated from Providence College with Cum Laude honors in 2002. I also have completed the coursework for my middle school endorsement at Rhode Island College.
I have passed the Praxis exam. I currently hold a certificate in Secondary English in the state of Rhode Island.
I live in Providence, but I am willing to travel 20-30 miles to meet with clients for a tutoring session.
I have over eight years experience teaching English at the middle and high school level. I specialize in tutoring students in reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and speaking. I also have experience teaching ESL/TOEFL.
I also offer basketball training sessions. I have seven years experience as a JV and varsity basketball coach in Rhode Island. Prior to my experience coaching basketball at the high school level, I was a student assistant for the men's basketball team at Providence College.
I am looking to tutor middle, high school, and college students. My pay rate may increase or decrease depending on how much time and effort is needed for your subject area.
My teaching style incorporates differentiated instruction to maximize student learning. I am flexible and willing to be creative to meet the needs of my students. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a great deal of experience coaching and training basketball players. I began coaching as a student assistant at Providence College in 2000. During that time I helped coordinate the Men's Basketball Summer Camp, which hosted male and female players of all ages from five years old to eighteen years old. I also helped coordinate practices for men's basketball team at Providence College. During that time, I worked with players on the team to help them with their individual offensive and defensive skills.
I have been a coach at the high school level in Rhode Island for seven years. I have four years experience as a head coach and three years experience as a JV coach. During this time I have also trained several players to help them improve their conditioning, offensive skills, and defensive skills. I can improve the skills of players of all positions and talent levels due to my previous experience and work ethic that I instill in my clients.
I hold a current Rhode Island certification in Secondary English, and I have also completed the coursework for my middle school endorsement. In addition, I have been an English Teacher for over 10 years with a great deal of experience teaching grades 6-12. I graduated with my BA in English with a minor in Secondary Education in 2002.
