About Kendra

I hope to instill a love of learning in your child. I have been teaching full time for the past 8 years as a special education teacher. I have instructed students grades PreK-grade 7 in all subject areas including reading, writing, math, science and social studies. I enjoy working with students with unique learning needs and I have a great deal of experience working with students with disabilities. By assessing students and tapping into their strengths, as well as teaching with an awareness towards the best practices in education, I have helped many students make measurable gains. I am trained in and have taught using the Wilson Language program for several years, as a means for teaching struggling readers with decoding and spelling. This is a research-based program with proven results. I also have tutored diverse groups of middle school students in reading, writing and math (including prealgebra and algebra I). I am a former tutor for the Princeton Review and I have helped students prepare for the SATs. I hope to make tutoring a fun and worthwhile experience for you and your child, so that they can better succeed both in the classroom and in life. I hope to instill a love of learning in your child.
