Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Composition (Music)

I am a guitarist of nine years and studied music production at Full Sail University. We applied musical concepts to various areas such as movie composition, video game background music, or electronic music production. We covered various ideas such as the various scales (major, minor, the modes of the major scale, pentatonic minor) and keys, and common chord structures found in popular songs. We also practiced rearranging popular songs by adding our own elements or changing the genre of the song entirely.

Ear Training

I am a guitarist of nine years and studied audio engineering at Full Sail University, where we received training in the perception and physics of sound. We learned how to discern the difference from low to high frequencies, the difference in decibel levels from as little as 1 dB to as much as 10 dB. We also learned the frequencies of the musical scale, where the fundamental E on a guitar is 88.2 Hz, and like any other frequency given, it's octave doubles. I have learned to apply this knowledge to my musical playing and have learned to tune my guitar by ear and harmonize with guitar and vocal lines by simply listening to the key of a song and movement of the melody.

General Music

I am a guitarist of eight years. I studied piano before I picked up guitar. Throughout high school and college, I have studied music composition, sheet music, and music production. I have experience in college level fundamental music composition, jazz theory, and music arrangement. I can read sheet music, understand scales and intervals, and can transcribe music by ear.

Guitar

I have played guitar for over eight years, going on nine. I have a fundamental music education from the school of the RI Philharmonic. I have played in my church's worship team since I was thirteen. I also have been instructed in music by a Berklee graduate during high also. Lastly, I have received fundamental music reading and composition and jazz theory lessons from college level professors.

Music Production

I am a Recording Arts major from Full Sail University. I have knowledge in Pro Tools, Logic, signal flow, application of effects, music theory and composition, and recording techniques. I am also a guitarist of eight years.

Soccer

I have played soccer since I was six. I played on my high school soccer team where I was MVP my senior year. I am an avid fan of the game and know the necessary skills and techniques needed to play the game. I continuously watch the sport and do personal research on fitness and development.
