About Bianca

I am a motivated individual, excited to help and create a positive learning environment for all my students. As a mom, I know what it's like to see your child fall behind in school, and therefore I want to help children succeed. I use many different teaching methods, and finding the right learning style for each student is essential. There are four different approaches to teaching that I intertwine and personalize to every student. These include learner-controlled, teacher-controlled, active learning, and passive learning.

With active learning, we will use written down exercises, case studies, and experimental exercises. This method of learning will also include analyzing, creating, evaluating, feedback, skill practice, role play, real life experience, and defining. This is a fun way of learning and studies have shown a 70%-90% retention rate with this approach. Learner-controlled will be based more off of personal readings, self-evaluation, and discussion. Other times, students may need a teacher-controlled approach which is more lecture, talk, diagrams, charts, pictures, tables, videos, and more. Finally, with passive learning, students will mostly read, demonstrate, use audiovisual, and hear lectures.

I recently graduated community college Magna Cum Laude. I am starting up my bachelor's degree in the fall. I love school and have done extremely well in all my classes, thus far. I possess exceptional study and organizational skills. I have some experience as a teacher's aid, as I am a certified teacher assistant in the state of Rhode Island. I also teach my daughter pre-school at home. We work on letters, numbers, months, days of the week, spelling, writing, and so much more. Some materials I use in teaching my daughter are internet sources, flash cards, activity books. We work with lots of visuals, as she is young and can put things together better when she sees and hears it at the same time. Working with children is my passion, and helping them learn is extremely rewarding.

Successfully completed college mathematics class & business mathematics class in the last year. Excelled in every area of math in high school, including pre-algebra and algebra.

Completed English literature, public speaking, and writing courses in the last 5 years. Currently enrolled in an advanced writing class.

My writing and English literature classes have prepped me in the spelling department. I also have experience correcting spelling tests for a 3rd-grade class.

Please, don't hesitate to contact me today! I look forward to connecting with you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I teach my daughter kindergarten level reading, writing, math, and etc. I am a certified teacher assistant, and I have lots of experience interacting with children K-6. I typically use the active learning method with children K-6. This is a fun way of learning and studies have shown a 70%-90% retention rate with this approach.

Handwriting

I taught my daughter at home how to write her name and etc. Teaching children to perfect their handwriting requires patience and lots of practice. Typically, I have children recognize the letter, then trace, practice straight lines, circles, etc.
