About Christopher

I have a BS in Physics from UMASS Lowell and a Masters degree in Education, and I have taught all levels of Physics for 10 yrs at the high school level, including AP Physics 1 and AP Physics C, Honors Physics, Conceptual Physics, and Astronony. I am also a College Board certified AP Physics teacher, as I have completed multiple College Board training workshops over the years. I have a genuine love for Physics and have devoted my entire adult life to learning the subject, as well as coming to understand how people learn science most effectively. As evidence for this, my AP Physics 1 students at Stoughton High School, in Stoughton, MA, ranked 15th in the state of Massachusetts last year, with an 82% passing rate (a score of 3 or higher on a 1-5 scale), while the state average was a 37%. I am also a consultant for the National Science Foundation working on projects regarding teaching STEM via virtual simulations.

I can guarantee that you will not only improve your grades by working with me, but you will also come to deepen your understanding of the subject from the inside out. Concepts are the primary focus of my teaching, which are later supported with mathematics that reflect the level of the course the student is enrolled in. I have found that this approach allows students to score well on multiple-choice questions (which are mostly conceptual), as well as more calculation-based free-response problems.

The hope is that my teaching method will not only help you to understand how to effectively use the equations, and to improve your quizzes, tests, and standardized exam scores, but to also understand why the equations that model our natural world are what they are. If you come to read them like a book, you'll find that it's a beautiful story. I promise.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
