Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have taught Algebra for many years. I have taught Algebra to high school and college students. I have taught Algebra as a remedial course as well as to regular students.

Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra 2 for many years at many colleges. At most colleges it is called College Algebra. I have taught precalculus many times which consists of Algebra 2 and trigonometry.

Calculus

I have taught all levels of calculus for many years. I grade the AP Calculus exam every summer.

Chess

I was 8th grade chess champion of the Los Angeles Unified School District. I have played chess for many years.

Differential Equations

I have taught differential equations at Idaho State University and Rust College. I have taught Advanced Engineering Mathematics at the University of Rhode Island. Half of the course is on differential equations. I have taken graduate level courses in differential equations.

Discrete Math

I have taught discrete math many times. I have taught at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, at Assumption College, and at the University of Rhode Island. I have also tutored discrete math online.

Elementary Math

I have taught Elementary Math to junior college students. I have taught all levels of math including beginning math and Math for Elementary School Teachers.

Geometry

I have taken advanced college geometry classes in Modern Geometry and Differential Geometry. I have taught high school geometry for a summer at Wallenberg High School in San Francisco.

Hebrew

I studied Hebrew for many years. I taught Hebrew for a year. I speak to my children only in Hebrew. I studied for a summer in Israel. I took 5 semesters of Hebrew in college. I attended Hebrew School all through elementary, junior, and high school. I have tutored others in Hebrew.

Linear Algebra

I have taken a Ph.D. qualifying exam in algebra that includes linear algebra. I have taught linear algebra numerous times.

Logic

I have a Ph.D. in Mathematics. To receive the Ph.D. one must be precise and logical. I have taken numerous logic courses. These courses include Deductive and Inductive Reasoning and Predicate Calculus. I teach Discrete Math, which includes truth tables and other logic topics.

Praxis

I am qualified to tutor praxis math because I have a Ph.D. in mathematics. I have tutored and taught math for many years. I am qualified for 5732 math Praxis exam - this includes 4 subject areas of math; such as numbers/quantities, algebra, geometry and probability

Prealgebra

I have taught all levels of mathematics. I have taught elementary algebra and remedial mathematics.

Precalculus

I have taught precalculus for many years. I have taught precalculus to high school and college students. I have also taught calculus many years and know exactly what precalculus students need to know to go on and succeed in calculus.

Probability

I have taught probability as a graduate student and as a professor. I also teach probability when I teach discrete math.

Soccer

I played 4 years of soccer in Los Angeles. Two years were with AYSO. I played intramural soccer 4 years while in college. I coached my son's soccer team this past season.

I have taught statistics for many years. I have tutored statistics for many years. I have taken upper level and graduate level courses in statistics.
