The University of Rhode Island (Math)
"Do not worry about your problems with mathematics, I assure you mine are far greater." Albert Einstein
I am a mother of three girls with quite of experience working with children of all ages. Currently, I am attending the University of Rhode Island pursuing my lifelong dream to become a math teacher. I have a degree in nursing but my passion is in teaching. Throughout my life, I have excelled in school, especially in math and sciences. I enjoy teaching math to children. I am patient, kind, and creative person, always trying to find the student's strengths in order to help him or her excel academically. Everyone can be good at math. Math doesn't have to be boring and frustrating subject - it could be interesting and stimulating at the same time. In my tutoring sessions I like to use games and hands on activities that help students focus and use their creative thinking, too.
My favorite subjects are pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and elementary functions. I have tutored students in elementary, middle and high school, as well as college students at CCRI. I can also help children with their reading, spelling, writing, and social studies to improve their study skills or just to practice before exams and boost their grades in school. I have organized home-based summer math camps at my house, where my own children and their friends enjoy learning math and keep their skills sharp during the summer break.
I am flexible with my schedule and will work with your schedule. I can follow the school curriculum or offer my own teaching method and practice materials. I have great references and will be glad to hear from you. "Do not worry about your problems with mathematics, I assure you mine are far greater." Albert Einstein

Superior qualifications. Professional and personable. Listened to our concerns and more importantly my high school daughters concerns. Tailored a program best suited to meet my daughter's needs. The hour flies by and my daughter is actually happy at the end of her math session...something she has never been before. Highly recommend Mira to any student in need of encouragement and easy to understand guidance in math instruction.
Mira responded quickly. She helped my daughter work through additional geometry problems with focus. Additionally, she suggested important strategies for focus on an upcoming test. Exceptional tutor!
Mira contacted us immediately regarding our request to locate a tutor for our daughter, a high school student who got behind in Math due to an extended illness this winter. Mira was very capable at hopping right in to the sections that needed to be covered and developing a good working relationship with our daughter. This enabled our daughter complete the review and assignments in a very timely manner.
Thank you, Rose, for the feedback and kind words. It was my pleasure working with your daughter. I'm glad I was able to help her get back on track. Good luck and if you need any help again, don't hesitate to ask me. Thank you!
Mira is a wonderful tutor, she really helped my daughter with geometry. Her method and patience really made all the difference.
Thanks Laura! I appreciate your feedback and the kind words. I am glad I was able to help. Good luck with pre-calculus next year!
Thank you so much for helping us to find such a wonderful tutor! Mira's professional online profile immediately caught my attention and after speaking with her on the phone I was convinced that I had found the right person to tutor my son. She was so kind and accommodating from the very beginning. She provided me with enough information to put my worries at ease.
When we met the next day, her pleasant and patient demeanor helped to immediately put my son at ease. She spent an hour working with him through a series of math problems to assess his skills and was able to provide me with a plan of action to make the next learning experience challenging yet fun for him.
After the session my son had a huge smile on his face and he gave me a big, long hug. Math has been such a struggle for him, but now he is feeling less anxious or overwhelmed because he knows there is someone here to help him.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate your feedback. There is no greater reward for me than knowing that I can help a student in his/her effort and desire to do better in math and to overcome his fear of the subject. I am convinced that after we spend more time together your son will be ready to start the new school year with much more confidence and be ready to meet the challenges ahead.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am very passionate about the Environment and living a more sustainable way of life. I took a Natural Resource Conservation class at URI that covered everything - from the basics of Ecology: study of climate change, weather, food chains and food webs, chemical and water cycles- to pollution, sustainable food production, renewable and non-renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, principals of sustainability, economics and the environment, and much more. Anybody who is studying about the environment- elementary, middle, high school and college level - is welcome. I am happy to help with this area of study.
