Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I am qualified in this area because as of May 2013 I will be certified in special education. I also worked as a behavioral therapist through an ABA setting. I specifically worked one on one with a child on the Autism spectrum.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am qualified in the areas of Elementary K-6 because I am going to graduate from an accredited college in May. I have taken appropriate classes that have prepared me for material, as well as student teaching for a full year in the elementary setting.

Hard Of Hearing

I have been working with a student that is hard of hearing for a year. I have gone to trainings and seminars to better understand how to teach to a student with this disability. Through my training I have been understood the challenges these children face.

Phonics

I have been working for two years through a program called Wilson language. This is a evidenced based phonics and decoding system that works with students to improve these skills. The skills are then translated to actual text.

Special Needs

I am qualified in the areas of Special Education from k-8 because I am going to graduate from an accredited college in May. I have taken appropriate classes that have prepared me for material, as well as student teaching for a full year in the elementary setting with a semester teaching in a sixth grade special needs classroom. I was in charge of differentiating material and making sure students were given appropriate tasks based on their cognitive level.

Study Skills

I am qualified in this area because I have experience as a teacher and working with all students especially those with special needs who need assistance in these skills. Based on the need of the student I am able to understand the different ways in which they learn and how to accommodate their needs to succeed.
