Hello! Glad you stopped by! I'm very eager to tutor, so let me tell you a little about myself.
I've recently moved to Rhode Island to be closer to family. My family has lived and vacationed in Rhode Island for over forty years so I am very familiar with the state.

I have a K-6 teacher certification from CT and am currently in the process of getting certified in RI. There is reciprocity between the two states, so it won't be long before the paperwork is complete. I have a B.A. in English. I also have a Masters in Teaching (K-6). In my junior year of college I studied and taught English in Japan. In Japan I tutored adults, individual students and full classrooms of children.

I have worked in various capacities in elementary schools in both New Canaan and Stamford Connecticut. I have worked as a literacy coach tutoring individual students, as well as small groups. I have worked as a tutor for a private company, as well as with private students. I have worked with children with special needs, and in different special education programs. I have also substitute taught in many schools, and in many different grade levels and classrooms.

I believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience. I want to learn as much about my students as I can in order to better assist them. I like to speak extensively with parents and teachers in order to get a history of the child's strengths, and weaknesses. Understanding a child's history, learning styles and personality helps me better understand how to help a student, and help them reach their potential.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you, and learning about your needs.

I am a certified teacher (K-6) in CT and am in the process of becoming certified in Rhode Island too. I have a BA in English from the University of Rhode Island. I have a Masters in Teaching from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. I also spent a school year living, studying and tutoring in Fukuoka, Japan. I have tutored several students and worked in elementary schools in various capacities. When tutoring I feel it is important to work in concert with the student's teachers and assess their goals for the child. Constant communication with parents, teachers and students is critical for optimum results.
