I enjoy working with elementary students because I share their enthusiasm and curiosity. I am extremely patient and understand that some things need to be taught and retaught. My graduate degree is in elementary education, and I have been working as a substitute teacher in the Pittsburgh area. I have my professional certification in PK-4. I also have taken additional coursework in teaching literacy. I love reading books with young children and phonics is one of my specialties. My favorite part of any day is when I see a child smile because they have succeeded in something that they had been working on. I truly believe that all children can succeed.

I have a background working with children with disabilities. I have worked as a teaching assistant with deaf children at the New York School For the Deaf. Also during the summer, I work at Camp S.P.E.A.K with autistic children.

My experience working with children and my patience make me a great tutor. I also love to add an element of fun to all my lessons.

I want science to be more than what you read in books. I love experiments and I have even worked at Lab Ratz where hands-on experiments made science fun.

I have additional classwork in literacy with emphasis on phonics and the best ways to teach children to read.

I have worked directly with children with Autism at Camp S.P.E.A.K. and understand the difficulties faced by these children.

Please contact me so that we can make arrangements to meet. I can provide references if requested and a copy of my certification. I like to meet at local libraries and my schedule is flexible.
