COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF THE AIR FORCE (Applied Sciences)
I have over 20 years of practical playing experience, and have taught well over 100 students in South Eastern Pa. I am fluent in diatonic theory, and can set anyone off in the right direction with technique and knowledge on bass or guitar.
On bass I am very fluent in slap, two hand tap, finger picking, and using a pick and can play pretty much any style you throw at me. I am capable of teaching anyone from a person who has just picked up a bass, to someone who wants to break through to another level of playing. I focus on timing, consistency, and thoughtful improvisation.
On Guitar, I am very fluent in Blues, Rock, and Funk. I have a strong concept of music theory, and can teach anyone from beginner to intermediate level.
I love passing on everything I have learned throughout the years. I have been lucky enough to play, record, and write, with some very successful musicians, and that wellspring of experience is something you can't put a price tag on.
I have studied with Steve Beskrone, a teacher at the University of The Arts in Philadelphia. Mr Beskrone played with Ray Charles, Patti LaBelle, and was also a regular bass player on The Tonight Show.
I studied rhythms and timing with Martin Bradfield, one of the most prolific drum instructors in Pennsylvania. Mr. Bradfield studied with Philly Joe Jones, a drummer for one of Miles Davis' great bands.
My overall knowledge, patience, and just the enjoyment I get from playing bass, and guitar, make me a good instructor. I cater every lesson to each individual students needs, and go above and beyond, to ensure I provide the proper tools to anyone under my wing. I have been playing, and studying guitar, for 20 years, and have been teaching for the past 10 years independently. I have studied blues, rock, jazz, funk, and reggae. I have played with Tim McGraws touring drummer, Stevie Ray Vaughan's keyboard player, toured up and down the eastern sea board, and am currently the band leader in a new project. My overall versatility, my working knowledge, and prior teaching experience make me a perfect candidate to teach any beginner to intermediate lever student.
I started songwriting when I was 13 years old. I have broken down and studied many different artists material, and have applied a lot of that knowledge to my own work. Also, my strong concept of basic music theory lets me break traditional rules at times, and follow them in others. The key is, I know when I'm breaking them, or following them.
