I am an enthusiastic and caring teacher with a strong commitment to student empowerment and achievement. I currently teach High School English and have experience teaching Social Studies as well.
I have proven successes in helping students reach their full potential. Helping students be successful on the SAT Exam as well as GED programs and college applications and placement exams.
I also have superior communication skills and easily interact with students and parents with diverse backgrounds. I am dedicated to improving the educational experience of all students, especially those deemed at-risk.
I am also a Freedom Writer Teacher and have attended many Freedom Writer Teacher Symposiums in order to continue to learn new and innovative ways to encourage and empower my students.
I have a Masters degree in Education with an At-Risk Certification and an Undergraduate degree in English. I have almost 10 years of experience in teaching both middle and high school English Language Arts, which includes public speaking, SAT Essay writing, College Essay writing and Rhetorical analysis.
I believe that in order for students to be engaged they must find the content relevant and I will strive to make real life connections so that students can comprehend the relevance of what they are learning.
I am available for tutoring at a local Library or at a mutually convenient location. I do require a 24 hour notice of cancellation, however I am willing to make up a session for any unforeseen emergencies.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Masters degree in Education and an undergraduate degree in English. I also have 18 graduate credits in teaching literacy and working towards a second Masters degree in Literacy.
As a part of my 9th grade curriculum, I teach SAT writing and reading. I am very familiar with the SAT Essay format as well as the timed writings and even have my own SAT guide for your student's use. Also, I have a Masters degree in Education and I am currently pursuing a second Master's degree in teaching Literacy and completed 18 graduate credits towards this second degree. I have been teaching since 2006, when I decided to change careers from a child advocate to an English teacher. I am certified in both Maryland and PA
