Allegheny College (Studio Art)
Marywood University (Master's)
I graduated in December 2015 with a masters degree in PK-4 Education, including student teaching in 4th grade and kindergarten. Before and during that time I spent a year teaching small groups in a reading intervention classroom and two years working as a kindergarten classroom aide. Since graduating I have been working as a substitute teacher, and for 2+ months was a long term substitute, taking on all of the responsibilities of a full time 2nd grade teacher. I am passionate about helping students learn and strongly believe in teaching in a way that is both enjoyable for students and in line with research-based methods.
I have always been an excellent student myself. Due to my skills in reading, writing, English, math, social studies, and some areas of science in combination with my studies in educating young children I believe I would be helpful to older students as well.
I also have a bachelor's degree in art so I would be happy to teach art lessons. My training and studies in this area have developed my creativity, making me a better teacher and learner as well as a good artist.
I am an avid reader and a very good writer. My college courses and experience has prepared me well for teaching young students how to read and teaching older students comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and spelling. Thanks to 6 years of college I have written many essays and am good at editing other's work.
My studies in graduate school have prepared me well for teaching elementary age students. I also now have 4 years of experience working with students of this age through my jobs as a tutor in reading intervention, a kindergarten aide, a student teacher, and a substitute teacher.
I love social studies and think that learning about the world and its history is extremely important. I excelled in social studies in school and can identify almost any country on a map of the world.
My bachelor's degree in art provided me with excellent training in sculpture, painting, photography, and especially in drawing, which was my focus. I am passionate about art and draw often. I have experience showing my work in galleries, creating murals, and doing commissioned work.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a bachelor's degree in studio art and have experience showing my artwork in a gallery. I have created murals and commissioned work. My degree in education and experience with children combined with my training in art have prepared me to teach art, particularly drawing, which is my focus and specialty.
I have a master's degree and certification in PK-4 Education. I have worked as a reading intervention tutor, a kindergarten aide, and a substitute teacher. My knowledge of education as well as my experience with working with small groups of children have prepared me to succeed as an elementary tutor for all subjects.
