My name is Kristine. I have graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where I earned a BS in Natural Science, Masters in Elementary Education and earned three certifications (Elementary K-6, Reading Specialist, and Mid-level General Science). The most experience I had tutoring one on one was when I was a reading specialist intern. I worked with elementary student K-4. I had the highest test out rate in Title I. In addition, I am currently a MS/HS Science Teacher at a small private school. I teach Science 6-8, Biology 9 and Chemistry 10.
I became a teacher because I wanted to help students succeed. If a student is struggling, I want to know why and help. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
