Are you or your child struggling in math or physics? Do you just want to nudge that B up to an A? Maybe you need a tutor! I can help you or your child with any mathematics or physics course, from first grade through college.
I have Bachelor's degrees from UW-Madison in Math, Physics, and Astronomy, and am currently finishing up a Master's degree in West Chester University's Geology department. What qualifies me to tutor is not just that I know the material, but that I love to teach and am good at it. In my last years of undergraduate study, I spent several hours a week tutoring non-majors in introductory physics, many of whom were struggling with the subject. Since then, I have helped students of all ages and backgrounds to conquer subjects they'd though were impossible. Not only did all of my students improve their scores tremendously, but several of them grew to love the subject because I love to make science interesting and exciting. I am very patient with frustrated students, and am good at making boring subjects palatable.
If you're having trouble with any mathematics (especially algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus) or physics course from elementary through college, I'll help you do better than you ever imagined. I can also help students prepare for the SAT (math or critical reading), or GRE general test. Are you or your child struggling in math or physics? Do you just want to nudge that B up to an A? Peter was a great tutor for my son (geometry). He was very thorough and pushed my son to complete problems on his own but was there to support as needed. Also he researched solutions to "tricky" problems in his own time and emailed my son suggestions for how to approach the difficult problems. We highly recommend Peter - he was reliable, punctual and professional.
Peter has been an absolutely great tutor. He has been able to step in and provide my son with needed help before pre-calculus midterms. He is excellent at picking up where a student needs help. He is very professional and patient. He gives support and needed background so that a student builds self confidence. We are very pleased with his abilities and plan to continue with him throughout the new semester.
My son has been working with Peter for several weeks now and he has helped him have a much better understanding of Calculus. He has gone from test scores of C's and D's to A's and B's in a short time. An added bonus is that Peter also tutors in Physics so they have been able to work on whatever subject needed the most attention. Peter has been willing to work with my son's schedule, is easy to reach, always on time, gets right to work when he arrives, and seems very patient. Best of all my son enjoys working with him and feels it is time well spent. I highly recommend him.
My son and I would highly recommend Peter. He is really great in giving my son the necessary tools that my son needs to succeed in his calculus class.
Peter is doing an excellent job tutoring my daughter in algebra. She likes that he makes her figure out the problems until she understands the
concepts. He is patient and reliable as well.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My undergraduate degree is in mathematics with an emphasis on analysis. I've tutored students in both college-level and high school calculus. I've also taught calculus to people with little math background in a classroom setting.
Trigonometry is one of my specialties. Calculus requires an immediate grasp of trigonometry, so I have developed a knack of teaching the main concepts quickly and clearly in my calculus sessions. I also have a background in astronomy, which requires A LOT of trigonometry to deal with orbital mechanics.
Peter M. passed a background check on 10/7/14. The check was ordered by Peter through First Advantage. For more information, please review the background check information page.
After sending a message to Peter, you will be able to order a new background check for $7.99. As part of your tutor selection process, we encourage you to run updated background checks. Please also review the safety tips for hiring tutors.
