I have the ability to work with your child to help them exceed academically in all content areas. I'm focused, hardworking and committed to helping children make gains in in various educational subjects. I am currently a third grade teacher at a West Philadelphia elementary school. I am part of a third grade team and I help facilitate team meetings to ensure that our students’ scores excel on the PSSA assessment. As a grade we currently have the highest percentage of proficient students (in reading and math), and our school is on track to make Adequate Yearly Progress for the first time in years. My previous experience before this was a Pre-Kindergarten teacher. The program was run and overseen by the School District of Philadelphia, and it prepared students for Kindergarten by teaching letter and word sounds, counting numbers, and other learning experiences that prepared them for Kindergarten. For five years previously, I worked for the School District of Lancaster, and I worked for two years for Harford County Public Schools. I have served as a Dean of Students, prekindergarten, first and third grade teacher during my professional career. I am eager for an opportunity to expand as a professional. As a teacher I showed achievement with struggling students using targeted interventions, attention to detail, data driven instruction and differentiated instruction that met the needs of all learners. I also provided a nurturing learning environment that is conducive to optimal learning and growth.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
