Parlez-vous français? Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Oui and ja. My name is Jennifer. I have been studying French for more than 13 years and German for 8. I have my Bachelor's in French and German and a Master's in French and German translation. After graduating college, I won a Fulbright scholarship and taught English for a year in Germany to German middle and high school students. I am passionate about languages. I believe that not only is speaking a language important, but also learning the speakers' culture and history as well as what makes the language tick, i.e. the grammar, and doing all of this in a fun way.
Each student is different. I understand full well that not everyone is a linguaphile like I am and that not everyone's brain is wired to pick up languages easily, my college roommate for example. I have tutored friends and classmates over the years and can certainly help you!
I also tutor history and government. I was a history minor in college as well.
The majority of my students have been in high school or college.
I do NOT tutor students below 8th grade as I have very little experience teaching language to that age group.
Tutoring is a side-job for me. I do it because I love working one-on-one with students. During the week, I am generally not available until the evenings. Depending on where you're located, the earliest I can normally meet would be at 5:30pm. Parlez-vous français? Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Oui and ja. My name is Jennifer. Jennifer was excellent in helping me to review for my midterm exam. She was patient and easy to talk to, and seemed very well prepared and knowledgeable on the subject. I highly recommend her!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
