I graduated Temple University with a degree in Bachelor of Architecture [1986 Grad] and worked in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area for more than two decades. My love for ART has never left my inner desires. I always loved Visual Arts and expressed my feeling and emotion through it, if not with pen and ink - paint or brush, I tried my computer and it's mouse to say what I wanted to say and more. As a continuing education student, I attended Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and Philadelphia University of the Arts, taking evening classes and various Live Portrait, Oil Painting Composition, and Pastel Drawing courses during my Summer breaks from work to enhance my oil painting abilities.
I would like to share my experience with you. This Tutorial opportunity will give me a chance to keep up with what I love to do; And, grow further with younger or older students. I am looking forward to meet students who share similar dreams and aspirations in the Visual Arts. I am into representational Art, I liked the Renascence Impressionists Expressionists Cubists and little shy on Modern Abstracts. I believe that any two dimensional art work, no matter how well executed in it's subject, and in whatever medium it is presented, can easily "fail", simply by lacking a well studied basic composition, disciplined execution and solid subject in mind. A successful work of art will not only attract viewers interest visually, but it should also "come out of the surface" and be vibrant and dynamic in color and full of "movement".
If you share my views and have love to paint outdoors or indoors; If you love to explore watercolor or even charcoal and pastel, let me be your Tutor. We can start at your convenient time and place. Group or individual meetings. Growing up in the Middle East I attended quite many art academies in my youth, and I know how intimidating the first steps can be. My Armenian culture and heritage has taught me to appreciate art and see how it can open many links and cross many bridges. Let us cross one together.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a practicing Architect, I would be happy to tutor any interested student in the field of architecture or construction business to draw on automated computer aided design tool called CAD Re 2010. Provided that student has the software installed on his/her computer. I have utilized CAD to prepare architectural plans elevations and sections - details for more than a decade. We will review CAD basic commands - layers - model and paper space - pen colors and construction documentation process required to prepare a set of building plan to be used to apply for a permit or a zoning hearing.
I will teach basic "still life" or nature drawing steps with black charcoal. Working on composition, light and shadow, perspective, depth, masses and shapes. Gradually we proceed to portrait drawings. Hand sketching skill is the first basic step we need to develop towards any artwork to be accomplished; weather it is in the field of commercial illustration or computer generated renderings. With our tutorial sessions we can go over drawing practices and technical tips. Mediums I use are charcoal graphite pencils. Also get into china ink with brush or faber-castell artist pens.
For many Art students becoming familiar with all necessary tools of oil painting or even water color can be a struggle. Brushes needed, base paint, mixes, knifes, turpentine, painting oil etc. As a tutor to my students, I will assist and participate with my students each step in purchasing painting supplies, preparing stretched canvas and illustration paper that is workable with water color; or use ready made painting boards or wood panels. Depending on students age, abilities, choice of medium desired and available space. We will follow an academic method of study by working from set still life, or a live model. We can do outdoor landscape painting sessions; Provided all tools are available to the student. Painting medium to include: Oil on Board, Oil on Canvas, Winsor & Newton Water Color on paper, Gouache Water Color on Illustration Board.
