I love teaching and tutoring others! I have been formally tutoring others in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and French since 2008. My biggest goal as a tutor is to help my students get to the point where they don't need me anymore. I want you to be successful in your education and understand how to solve problems and think critically and not just "get the right answer." My biggest goal as a tutor is to help my students get to the point where they don't need me anymore. I want you to be successful in your education and understand how to solve problems and think critically and not just "get the right answer." I seek to help students understand how subjects tie together and often provide examples or scenarios that are multidisciplinary to help them grasp concepts.

In addition to my experience tutoring I a hold an active teaching license through the State of Pennsylvania and am a lecturer of chemistry and lab director at Penn State University. I am also a Level II Tutor as certified by the College Reading and Learning Association. I have taught in elementary, middle, high schools, and at Penn State University. I have enjoyed teaching in all scenarios where the students desired to learn and were willing to stretch their abilities. Currently a chemistry lecturer at a large, public research university with over seven years experience teaching college-level chemistry.

I realize that everyone is different and needs to be taught at their own pace. I have mentored students who needed remediation as well as those who were just looking to extend their knowledge in a subject. Whatever your goal, I will be there to help you achieve it. I look forward to working with you in the near future.

Study Skills

Study Skills

I am full-time teaching faculty in chemistry, but also specialize in teaching courses on how to learn and how to teach. My bachelor's and master's degrees are both in education. I train approximately 50 graduate and undergraduate students each year how to be effective teachers.

History

Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I have been studying Scripture on my own since I was a young boy. I have attended Sunday School, where we studied the Bible and Book of Mormon, since I was young as well. In high school, I attended an early morning seminary class for all four years where I studied the Old and New Testaments, as well as other Scripture. After I graduated from high school, I was a volunteer Sunday School teacher for about two years. I also taught the Scriptures for two years full-time in France.

Chemistry,

Chemistry

I’ve been tutoring in chemistry since my high school days. I’m now a chemistry professor at a large public institution, but I always prefer one-on-one lessons with students. I have a valid teaching license, a degree in chemistry teaching, and another in higher education. Chemistry is my passion and my goal in teaching others about it is to help them love it as well and appreciate the world around them through chemistry.

Science

ACT Science,

ACT Science

In collaboration with another teacher I wrote the curriculum for the Science portion of an ACT preparation course. This course has been used in schools throughout Utah for after school programs. The programs have been very successful. For more information, see teens-act.org.
Biochemistry,

Biochemistry

I took biochemistry as an elective in my undergraduate coursework. I loved it so much (and did so well) that I was the teaching assistant for the course the two following semesters. I received high reviews from the students and faculty both times. I also performed original research in proteomics and lipidomics. During the end of my undergraduate career I was on a team of students who wrote and created educational videos about biochemistry for the university to use in their courses.

Reliable and very good tutor

I have been working with Adam H for a few weeks now doing weekly sessions for chemistry. He is always willing to explain things out more for me and very patient. He is able to work with me on scheduling/ availability, and has good communication with any unseen events. He is able to thoroughly explain concepts, give good examples, and follow up on previous things discussed in past sessions. I enjoy working with Adam and recommend him to anyone in need of a tutor.

Very patient and knowledgeable !

Adam gave my 6-grade boys a lesson on IFCSE chemistry. He was prepared and knowledgeable. Most of all, he made the learning of chemistry interesting. My boys told me immediately after the first class that they would love to continue to learn with Adam. A good teacher!
