I enjoy helping students at all levels learn more about Digital Photography, Adobe Lightroom, and Adobe Photoshop Elements.
I bring many years of experience in photography, both film and digital, to the table as well as several years experience teaching digital imaging at the community level through the Downingtown Area Recreation Consortium.
I am comfortable working with all ages and with those from other cultures and languages. I lived in Germany for three years and have traveled in North and South America, Europe, and Asia in addition to 44 of the 50 States.
I look forward to helping clients of all ages improve their photography and post-processing skills.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught digital photography courses through the Downingtown Area Recreation Consortium for the past seven years including “Mastering Your Digital SLR", “Photoshop Elements for Beginners”, and "Crash Course in Digital Photography".
A working professional focused on both corporate event work and fine art, I bring several decades of photography experience to my tutoring sessions.
Digital photography is far more complex than traditional film ever was, and it requires the ability to deliver clear and understandable instruction--something I do by using brief Power Point presentations, derived from the courses outlined above, and a lot of hands-on work.
It makes no sense to me to explain the theory behind something without bringing it into the living, breathing world. Consequently, a good part of our time together would be spent in the field doing actual shooting and analyzing the shots as we go to make sure you understand both the 'why' and 'how' of what you're doing.
I customize course content for private clients based on their needs and their level of accomplishment in their areas of interest. If someone is uncertain about what direction to go in, I typically will cover the basics of equipment, exposure, composition, editing, and output while remaining both sensitive and flexible enough to understand if one aspect of photography suddenly lights you up to go with it--it's happened to me many times.
I work hard helping my students to understand the critical differences between human vision and camera vision and to master them both.
With few exceptions, I am available both weekdays and weekends.
