Hey there, I’m Sean! Thanks for visiting my profile. My tutoring approach involves and individualized plan, attuned to each person’s specific learning needs. Struggling through many courses myself in academia, I frequented office hours and found tutors myself, learning and applying different strategies for many different topics, content, and problems. The opportunity to tutor students taught me a lot about each individual’s unique learning style and needs. Students improve significantly due to constructive feedback and plans of action I offer them. I provide students with clear steps and recommendations for success on material/assignments/exams. I truly think the process behind coming to an answer for a problem matters, and I am willing to take the time, effort, and energy to struggle through challenging problems with students.

During 2018, I graduated cum laude from UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science (International Relations focus) and a B.S. in Psychobiology. Studying and learning such complex topics at a prestigious university and alongside highly motivated and studious people inspired me to teach others, helping them achieve success in academia. Fortunately, I had the privilege of taking many high-level, challenging STEM courses (on top of other subjects, too) such as AP courses in high school and college courses + premedical requisites for attending medical school. Thus, I am equipped with a breadth of knowledge & insight on various STEM topics, allowing me to effectively help students in these topics.

Thank you for considering me to be your tutor through Wyzant! I am happy to engage in your academic journey with you, helping in any way that I can. Hopefully, you feel like you have enough information to make an informed decision on pursuing the best tutor for you! Please know that my rates may be flexible, especially depending on the level of the subject in which you require support.

Statistics

Statistics

Statistics is an incredible passion of mine! It is super important and relevant to many different fields. Through hard work and dedication, I achieved an A and passing score in AP Statistics, and an A+ in Psychological Statistics while an undergrad at UCLA. I've also had the privilege of applying statistics in research, learning about its real-world application + relevance. All of my prior statistics students in high school and college showed significant improvement in their courses, including evidence of enhanced basic algebra and probability skills required for success with stats.

Elementary Education

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have tutored variable topics in math over the past 3 years. This includes college statistics and calculus, high school algebra and geometry, and elementary math. As a student, I had extensive experience in math courses including algebra, geometry, algebra II, college calculus, and college statistics. Also, I recently excelled on the Medical College Admissions Test which has extensive algebra level math and some calculus required for physics. I take a stepwise approach to tutoring sessions. First, I do a performance evaluation of the student if their course is already in progress. This includes evaluating where they are at in their course (grade), areas that need immediate improvement and longterm improvement. Second, based on the performance evaluation, I organize a plan of action to follow in tutoring sessions for the student. This might require me to view the course syllabus or calendar to organize material covered in sessions in a way such that the student can excel on homework/quizzes/exams. Finally, I conclude each session by providing final notes for the student. This may include tasks for the student to perform such as “completing problems 1-20 in your textbook prior to our next session or your upcoming quiz”.

While studying at UCLA, I excelled in extensive biology and life sciences courses, after struggling myself, studying and learning alongside my peers, which prepared me to maximally, best help students through challenging biology coursework. I make up for lacking substantial experience tutoring in biology by working my hardest at crafting a comprehensive, individualized lesson plan and targeted approach to help you thrive. That said, I tutored high school honors and AP biology students, helping them achieve better success. On top of that, as a medical student and throughout my academic career, I completed significant biology-related coursework, preparing me to be a great tutor for you!
Chemistry,

Chemistry

Chemistry is a subject that naturally sparks my passions and interests, manifesting my academic strengths. Long hours, hard work, and dedication are among a few pursuits speaking to my success in chemistry courses, achieving all A’s or A+’s throughout my academic career at UCLA and higher education. I similarly applied myself, strongly dedicated to success, to studying for the Medical College Admissions Test chemistry section, achieving a 92% percentile score on the chemistry section. Additionally, I tutored chemistry to multiple students for over three years, which provides me with the experience necessary and sufficient to provide all students with the tools for success in chemistry.
