I am 21 years old, and going into my senior year at Penn State University as an Early Childhood Education major. I currently have two full years of experience with tutoring. I tutor an elementary student from the State College Area School District during the school year, from 3rd grade, and will continue for her 5th grade year.
I have taken two elementary math courses in college, Problem Solving in Mathematics and Problem Solving in Mathematics II. I have learned various mathematics, such as number systems, number theory, geometry, probability, statistics, and graphing.
Just this past year, I have taken my required Language and Literacy Education courses to prepare me for student teaching. These courses include Teaching Reading in the Elementary School, Teaching Language Arts in Elementary School, and Teaching Children's Literature. In these courses I learned how to teach reading, writing, and children's books to elementary school children.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
