St Edward's University (English Writing)
I have taught ESL for close to ten years, mostly in a classroom or small group setting, and occasionally one-on-one. I love my work, as I enjoy seeing my students learn, as well as getting to know them as people. I'm very flexible as to teaching method; if you simply want to practice what you know, we can do oral English practice, and use it as a springboard to pick up more vocabulary and fix grammar problems. We can also do intensive study or work straight out of a book as you'd like. I have a specialty in writing, so if you'd like to practice writing I can prepare essay practices for you and we can go over your work point by point. I have also done test prep before, mostly for TOEIC and TEM-4. I'm open to working to prepare you for other tests as well.
To tell you a little about my self personally, I am happily married with children. I recently returned to my own country (USA) after living across the world for twelve years, teaching English most of the time. I have lived in Europe, Asia and Latin America. In fact I met my wonderful wife in China, and our first child was born there. I am also a Christian, and enjoy reading the Bible and serving in the church community. When I have a little spare time (which isn't often!) I enjoy a good mystery and some sports.
I hope that lets you know a little about my teaching and my life. I am eagerly waiting to meet you, and to serve you through teaching. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Writing was my specialty in college and I have worked as a writer several times, both doing regular articles for travel websites as well as having independent work published.
Most of my writing experience as a teacher comes from two years of teaching essay writing at university level overseas; during that time I was pleased to see improvement in my students' work and had the chance to devise some of my own methods for teaching essay writing.
I look forward to working with new students on what is one of my loves.
