Drexel University (BSN, Nursing) + Hofstra University (BA, English)
I am a Registered Nurse with a BSN, as well as a BA in English Literature. My experience is centered on tutoring BSN coursework, HESI, and NCLEX prep. In addition, I am available to work with students on test-taking strategy, study skills, resume writing, and interview/job search skills.
Succeeding in nursing involves developing an understanding of the subject matter, as well as an ability to think critically. My goal is to work with students to find the method that best enhances their learning, in order to not only help them test well, but to understand and apply the material to practice.

Kate was very accessible and flexible. She is very knowledgeable in the subject matter and NCLEX test-taking skills. She was very supportive and I felt like I had a personal cheerleader throughout the preparation for the NCLEX.
Kate has helped me to pass the NCLEX exam and revised my resume and cover letter for job searching. She is very dedicated and reliable. I assure you that tutoring is worth investing, especially if you are lost and unsure about your self studies. I mainly needed help with reviewing the contents and someone to guide and encourage me through. Kate really knows her stuff!
Kate has an amazing knowledge base when it comes to nursing content and is a great tutor! She has a study plan and executes it very well.
She taught me me what to focus on for the NCLEX-RN, how to read the questions and HOW to study and prepare for it. Kate is great, keeps me motivated and I feel she really believes in her students.
I wanted a tutor to help me with my last semester of nursing school and help with NCLEX prep. I had two sessions with Kate and they were awesome. She helped me think about the different body systems and their implications with diseases instead of just memorizing the right answers. Kate was punctual and very professional. She recommended a NCLEX book for my boards. She was just what I needed.
The only problem I had is that Kate was hard to pin down for appointments and did not communicate with me in a timely manner. After our second session, she told me she was going to be away on two separate occasions and I forgot to write down the dates. I take responsibility for that.
Our last session was cut in half because of a personal emergency on March 22nd. That was our last session. I tried texting her on March 25th and April 3rd several times and emailing her on this website. I received no response I haven't heard from her in over a month and a half. Kate promised to get me some notes and other materials that never materialized. She works full time and tutors several people. I think she bit off more than she could handle.
The two sessions we had, she helped me think differently I only wish that we could have continued. My only advice to you is if you want to go with Kate, pin down dates and times in advance for more than one session. Good luck.
Thanks for the feedback, Ericka – it’s always welcome so that I can improve the learning experience for my students.
In the unusual event that I am unable to be reached, my students receive advance notice with the opportunity to reschedule lessons and plan for upcoming exams. During this time, my profile also becomes hidden from the website in order to prevent new students from contacting me and to remind current students that I am unavailable.
Additionally, I encourage students to check their junk mail folder for attachments that may be sent in addition to standard lesson reviews, as I am unable to receive from or send to e-mail addresses outside of the WyzAnt system. While not every student/tutor match is the right fit, my objective is always to ensure that my students feel comfortable and have their needs met, and I am happy to make any accommodations possible to help my students achieve and surpass their academic and personal goals.
I used Kate to help with NCLEX preparation. I had taken the test twice and was not successful. A friend recommended Kate and I passed my exam in 120 questions. She is very patient and kind and only has the students best interest at heart. Students need to be patient and understand that studying can be daunting and the amount of work you put in will result in success if you listen to Kate. Her strategies and knowledge will help students achieve success!
From the minute I started working with Kate, I felt like she could help me in successfully passing the NCLEX-RN. The tutoring sessions really make me think on a different level. Kate is really knowledgeable and a great tutor. She challenges me and makes me understand the content from a cellular level and provides relevant examples. She is a good educator and supports without rescuing. My confidence has been elevated and I look forward to working through the sessions and passing the exam.
Kate is tutoring me for the TEAS test for nursing school. She is an intelligent and excellent tutor. I would recommend her to anyone who needed tutoring.
I have been working with Kate, since August. I have experienced some difficulty in mathematics however, since working with Kate I have become more confident in my ability to achieve the mathematics needed in my educational career. I have been working diligently to prepare for medical math examination. I have come very close to passing achieving an 85% on my first try and an 88% on my second try. My benchmark score required is 90%. I feel when you work with a tutor what you should look for is your ability and progress learning material which previously you did not completely understand. I am confident I will achieve an A however the purpose of my tutoring has been reward already. I have a strong foundation to overcome this challenge. Thanks Kate
Great Tutor you won't go wrong. Recommended! Thanks for all the help!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have successfully worked with nurses, both new graduates and those with experience, to prepare resumes and cover letters, apply to and follow up on positions, create a portfolio, and prepare for interviews.
I am a Registered Nurse with experience in preparing students to take the NCLEX-RN exam as well as the HESI exit exam. I assess students' learning styles and needs in order to help them focus their studying and test-taking strategy. I assist them with applying critical thinking skills, understanding NCLEX style questions, and preparing for the testing environment.
As a Registered Nurse, my approach to pharmacology is to help students translate textbook knowledge into clinical practice by developing an understanding of medications, drug classifications, and real life application, rather than memorizing facts.
