I am an art teacher, author, illustrator, and musician. I love learning and because of that I am knowledgeable in science, history, writing, English, and reading. I taught art on the Navajo reservation. I have also taught kindergarten, first, and second grade for several years in a private school. In the summer I teach at Penn State Behrend University "College for Kids" program... I teach drawing, painting, and sculpture. At Chautauqua Institute I teach the "Young Artists" program and Special Studies teaching adults. I have also worked with special needs children... I was a TSS for a local agency.
As I mentioned my passion is teaching. I believe that learning can be fun and not stressful. Everyone has the ability to understand and I will find the best way to help you. I love to encourage and inspire students regardless of their age or ability. Many times students need a gentle nudge to get over some learning hurdles. I would be honored to help your overcome those obstacles and help you along the way.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a T.S.S. for Community Alternatives in Meadville, Pa from 2004 to 2009. I worked with ADD, ADHD, and Autistic students in the regular classroom. Currently I substitute teach in Millcreek SD, Northwestern SD, and Gen. McLane SD working with Emotional Support, Learning Support, and Autistic students. I taught K through 2nd for 12 years at a private school. I have also been a substitute teacher in grades k through 12 for 15 years. My specialty is encouraging and working with students. I truly believe if you are patient and can convey the lessons in a way a student can understand, that child will prosper. I give students the keys and encourage them to use them.
I have been a performing guitarist for 42 years. I sing and play folk and country gospel. I teach guitar using the chord system. I am pleased to say a few of my beginning students have continued with guitar and now teach others.
