University of the Science in Philadelphia (Psychology)
Hello to all. My name is Arthur and I am a second year psychology major at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Although my major is Psych, I am actually looking to go to law school after I graduate. I have had multiple years of experience tutoring students of elementary, middle, and high school levels as a member of both the Spanish Honors Society and National Honors Society. Additionally, I have begun to tutor students at my University and I have also prepared high school students for exams such as the SAT and AP tests.
The one thing I love most about tutoring is being able to bestow my knowledge onto my students and seeing them succeed. I always give my all to each of my students - and it is my absolute pleasure to be able to see them grow confidence within themselves and learn. I strive to make each and every tutoring session as engaging and meaningful as possible - all while showing my students that yes, it is fun to learn and that tutoring can be highly beneficial.
I am a current psychology major who has worked with numerous members of faculty in compiling poster presentations and IRB-approved research studies. Additionally, I have participated in numerous psychological studies and have a great understanding of the subject as both student and teacher. I have taken multiple courses at my university and excelled in each.
I have taken Spanish courses for 5 consecutive years in both middle school and high school (starting with Spanish I and finishing with AP Spanish). During this time, I was also inducted as a member of the Spanish Honors Society and have tutored multiple students as part of that membership. Additionally, I have scored a "4" on the AP Spanish exam and have received both the silver and bronze medals after taking the National Spanish Exam in 2012 and 2013.
Language Arts and writing are two of my greatest passions - and I have kept up with this passion for many years. As both a high school and college student, my writing has been featured in numerous scholastic contests and competitions. Additionally, I have received scores of both a 660 on the SAT essay and 650 on the critical reading section. I have also taken AP English Literature and have received a score of 4 on the exam.
I am an easy-going and determined individual who is willing to do anything he can to help someone learn and succeed. I treat each and every one of my students as a brilliant mind that can achieve anything, and I strive to make each and every lesson critical in bringing out a student's true potential in learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
