Hello! My name is Jim. I graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. I majored in accounting and minored in management information systems. I have two years of public accounting experience and one and a half years of industry experience. I also recently passed the CPA exams and met the requirements for licensure in PA. When I was attending university, the key to my academic success was having instructors who explained the material clearly and were able to relate it to their professional experience. This is the approach that I take to learning, which is to make concepts relevant to the real world. I open up a lesson with a general lesson plan that outlines the topic. Then, I test the student’s knowledge by working with sample problems and situations to test concept application.

I have two years of experience as an operations management tutor at a public university at the undergraduate level. During the two years, I also had the opportunity to be a teacher’s assistant by assisting the instructor with two classes with a sixty-student average classroom size. I also held one-to-two-hour general review sessions for both the midterm and final exams with a classroom size of one hundred students attending with ages ranging from twenty years old to forty years old. Outside of tutoring operations management, I informally tutored classmates in the subject areas of accounting and excel in university. In high school, I tutored classmates in Spanish.

I understand that it is difficult to fully understand course subjects after just one lecture. I aim to create a personalized experience where we can explore simple and complex subjects and understand the material at an intimate level.
