Ashford University (Early Childhood Ed.)
Hello! My name is Lauren and I am looking for tutoring positions in the Doylestown/Bucks County area. Currently I am teaching in the Flemington-Raritan School District as an Autism/Special Needs support teacher. My degree is in Early Childhood Ed. with a specialization in creative writing and language arts. Before working with the special needs population I worked as a Kindergarten teacher for three years. As far as tutoring goes, I have had one-on-one tutoring experience before, and have worked at a professional tutoring facility for students age 5-11.
I am extremely flexible with hours and times needed. I have excellent references and credentials. I am outgoing, patient, creative, and I love what I do! Please feel free to contact me with any questions! Hello! My name is Lauren and I am looking for tutoring positions in the Doylestown/Bucks County area. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over nine years of experience in the education field. I hold my degree in Elementary Education. Three of those nine years (most recently) I have been teaching in the public school system, grades K-8. Specifically I have worked with 7th and 8th grade students as a support teacher, which included modifying curriculums to meet each students needs as well as their IEPs; working individually with each student in core academic classes (math, reading, writing, science, and social studies); assisting with in-class work, test preparation, and homework assignments.
Prior to this, I held the same position for two years, however I worked with second and third grade students. Since my time working in the public school system, I hold a second job as a tutor in a private facility. I work with students ages 5-11, working one-on-one, or in small groups. The subjects covered are reading, writing, and math. My duties as a tutor include assessing students, preparing a curriculum that meets their academic needs, helping them understand basic problem-solving skills, studying skills, and encouraging them to work to the best of their ability.
Prior to tutoring and working in the public school system I have taught Kindergarten for 5 years in a private school setting. I have taught class sizes ranging from 8 students to 16.
