Students with learning challenges often feel frustrated or at fault for the difficulty they feel when trying to learn the same materials as their peers. Oftentimes, however, it isn't their fault at all! Students with learning challenges benefit from being exposed to new concepts in different formats. When working with children, I do my best to implement multi-sensory learning, which means children get to see, hear and DO. By incorporating these different learning styles for children, we work together to activate different areas of their brain for better processing, storage and retrieval of information.

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2010 from Nazareth College of Rochester. Since then, I have worked as a speech-language therapist under emergency certification within the school setting. This means that I have been fortunate enough to gain field experience while seeking admittance into a rigorous graduate program. I have experience working with students from kindergarten through tenth grade who present with learning and language disabilities. I enjoy exploring the learning and social needs of individuals and creating a plan to provide them with the foundational skills they need in order to be successful within the classroom and social settings.

As a member of a learning team, I value your time just as much as I value my own. Both collaboration and communication are important for the success of any student. Consequently, I offer a thirty-minute free consultation so we can get to know one-another, outline expectations, and determine the goals of our tutoring sessions. Furthermore, I follow a 24-hour cancellation policy.

To accommodate the busy lifestyle of families, I provide tutoring hours during the evenings and weekends. I would like to work with you and your family to determine a safe, appropriate and convenient tutoring location for our sessions.

I look forward to hearing from you within the near future. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Best Regards,

Andrea

I currently work in an ABA clinic, providing services to a nonverbal child with autism. We work on language, functional living, social and academic skills. I hold an RBT certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. I have spent four years teaching language and pragmatic skills to higher functioning individuals on the spectrum in grades K-9. I have attended conferences to gain more information regarding teaching curricula such as Social Thinking. Finally, I spend time supporting an adult with autism as he completes tasks at a local library. Support is provided for job tasks such as reshelving books and wiping down tables.
