I am a certified English teacher with experience teaching English and Language Arts to students from sixth grade through twelfth grade. I worked as an English Teacher in a public school in Chester County PA for four years before moving to the Scranton area. I taught using the common core and PA state standards and prepared students each year for the PA state standardized tests. The curriculum for each school year included reading and discussing novels and non fiction texts, vocabulary and grammar units, and writing workshops for expository, narrative, descriptive and persuasive styles.
I loved working with my students to help them excel in the English and Language Arts courses. I love my content area, so helping students learn to love reading and writing is a true passion of mine.
I have great patience and understanding when it comes to my students. I understand that not everyone loves reading and writing, but we can all get to a place where we are comfortable enough to appreciate it.
Please contact me if you would like to schedule a tutoring session. I look forward to helping you! I am a certified English teacher with experience teaching English and Language Arts to students from sixth grade through twelfth grade. I worked as an English
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a bachelors degree in Communications Studies, and this major required many courses that involved public speaking. The courses in which I excelled in and enjoyed the most were Business and Professional Speech, Public Speaking and Argument and Debate. Also, when I was teaching Language Arts, I taught a unit on Speeches and Public Speaking. My students were required to write and deliver various speeches at the end of the unit.
