In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Twenty plus years as a corporate Vice President of Marketing for three major corprations, in addition to owning my own marketing firm for several years, has prepared me from the bottom up for tutoring in this arena. From advertising to public relations, writing sell copy to business and personal image, managing huge budgets to media buys and winning the contract, I have personally experienced it all. There is nothing like not only being book smart but street smart too!
My qualifications for tutoring students in Public Speaking include a minor in speech in college and past experience teaching speech in high school, college, Adult Education, and corporate training sessions. In addition, I often speak to groups on various subjects as required, including when I am training in business. Fear of public speaking can be diffused once a student works through the psychology of speaking and gains confidence in him/herself.
