About Efpraxia

I studied classics at the University of Athens, Greece, and received education on teaching methods and students' psychology. I hold a Master's Degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and a PhD degree in Social Anthropology from St. Andrews University in Scotland. For my graduate research projects, I focused on Greek culture, speaking and social relations.

I tutored junior high school and high school students in Greece for eight years. I taught on ancient Greek, Latin, History and Modern Greek literature and essay writing.

I worked with students on an individual basis. My tutoring method, as developed through the early stages of my work in Greece, is based on the following principles: Learning the student's attitude to the material is key to my contribution to their success. I thus first help students realize their own potential, express their fears and anxieties, and state their favorite concepts or theories. We then review the material, master it and prove this master during examinations. I encourage students and use humor to push them through difficult concepts. I invent ways through which they memorize things and store them well in their memory. I also ask a lot of questions so as to get them to think and respond to the taught material. Most important of all, I draw their attention to detail...

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

I have a master's degree and Ph.D in social anthropology.

Classics

I studied classics at my BA degree and taught ancient Greek to high school students for eight years at my hometown in Greece.

Greek

Greek language is my native language. I was born, grew up, educated and worked in Greece for most of my life. I also studied Greek language and culture for BA, MSc and Ph.D degrees.

Latin

The BA curriculum in classics in Greece includes a number of Latin courses and the study of different Latin poets and writers. Holding a BA in classics from a Greek university and having taught Latin to Greek high school students and prepared them for their University exams for six years, enables me to teach Latin in the USA too!

Social Studies

I hold a Masters Degree and a Ph.D degree in social anthropology. I tutored first year undergraduate students of anthropology at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, U.K.

Great teacher — This is my first time learning the true way of learning the Greek language. I have learned a lot of words but never was able to put them in a sentence. Efpraxia taught me the meaning of the Greek language and when it was started and how to use the language. Efp is teaching me from the beginning to better understand the correct way of speaking and using the words correctly. I am looking forward to ...
