Dr. Peter K. Is able to tackle tough subjects with his students and make them very clear and manageable. He is an excellent tutor, very easy to learn from, and patient. He is able to get into the mind set of his students and teach them according to their knowledge levels, individual traits and abilities. I highly recommend Dr. Peter K. He has really been a huge help with calculus review, explaining problems carefully and with simple explanations.

Dr. Peter was very helpful in offering different explanations. If there were something I didn't understand, he would help me examine it from different angles in order to come to a solution. Very patient, tried to help me come to the solution on my own rather than just giving it to me.

Dr. K is a professional tutor. He incorporates his personal work, and life experiences into his teachings. He has a professional background in mathematics, and physics. As well, he holds a doctorate this subject. Personally, he helped me attain very high marks in both Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 (Calculus A and B). Collectively, I attained an "A" average for both courses. I received a 3.75 gpa in my college math. Individually, I was never fond of mathematics, but his tutoring sessions helped me enjoy math, and value its applications into my daily life. I would recommend him anyday as a tutor, and highly respect his professional teaching attitude!

Peter is very hardworking and willing to go the extra mile to help his students. He also does a great job of explaining the concepts behind Calculus, which I found immensely helpful. I would definitely recommend Peter to other students!

I have taken the GRE exam several times. The highest quantitative score I achieved on my own was in the 37th percentile, and this was after spending hours of studying for several months. With only two weeks of Dr. Peter's tutoring, I scored in the 64th percentile. Not only did he help me to understand the more complex problems, he corrected my approach which helped me to become a more efficient problem solver. Dr. K is very professional and reasonable with his time. In regards to the GRE quant section, Dr. K tutoring was money well spent!

I highly recommend Dr. Peter to anyone in need of an advanced math tutor. My daughter joined an AP Calculus AB class 6 weeks after the class had started. Dr. Peter was not only able to assist her in catching up, but he helped her to master the material. Up until working with Dr. Peter, my daughter's advanced math classes were the ones she dreaded, now she is confident and excited to take on AP Calculus BC. Dr. Peter is knowledgeable, kind, and patient, and at the same time pushes his students to work hard and reach beyond their comfort level. My highest recommendation and gratitude to Dr. Peter, a gifted teacher!

I came to Dr. Peter K for tutoring in the quantitative section of the GRE. I had previously taken the GRE twice, but scored only in the 56th percentile. However, my goal was to obtain a score at least in the 80th percentile.

Dr. K was very good at analyzing where I was mathematically and recommending steps to take to become more proficient. And when I made mistakes, he was very good at explaining where I went wrong and how to go about answering the question. What he excels at is both telling you the mathematics and the strategy of the GRE.

When I started, I was getting about half of the practice problems wrong. By the time we finished several weeks later, I was only missing one or two problems per practice test. This improvement was very noticeable and we finished our sessions early to account for my growing proficiency with the quantitative questions.

Most of the work we did was using the ETS GRE book. We mainly did practice test problems. If you have trouble understanding why you get practice test questions wrong, or you just don't know how to approach the problems, I would definitely recommend Dr. K to you.

My son feels he is well prepared for Calculus this year! Thank you so much for working with him this summer.

Dr. K tutored my son for math SATs, including the SAT subject test, as well as AP Calculus. Dr. K is an excellent tutor who my son thoroughly enjoyed working with. Dr. K was able to present complex ideas in a way my son could easily comprehend. He helped him build a very solid basis in math and then walked him through advanced math subjects. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. K as a very reliable and excellent tutor. I know we will go back to him without hesitation.

Dr. Peter did an awesome job with my son. He worked with our budget and schedule and was very flexible with his availability. I highly recommend him. Thanks!

Normally, I am an A-B student. Math especially is one of my stronger subjects and I've never really lowered beyond an A- in a math class. But when I started AP Calculus BC, I found myself with a 39. A 39! I was in over my head. Recovery from that seemed impossible but Peter was able to help me. After working through the chapters to prepare me for my next test, he backtracked to knowledge I never realized I was lacking in. His friendliness and charisma make it near impossible not to pay attention and his knowledge of all things math makes learning new material a breeze. The English accent is certainly a plus. I am happy to report that with Peter's help you can absolutely recover from a 39. If you're considering contacting Peter, don't think about it any longer, just do it.

Doctor K. is an excellent instructor who genuinely cares about his students' performances. He has a very strong grasp of mathematics and is able to explain answers easily and eloquently. Furthermore, Doctor K. is able to provide a number of different approaches to the same problem and show certain tricks to tackle them which, (when comes to Ivy universities like Princeton) is much needed. He helped to improve my skills tremendously.

Dr. Peter was very helpful and patient. He truly was a great tutor and gave me the push I needed. He worked through all of the problems with me that I wasn't sure how to complete, and most importantly, explained them very clearly. Dr. Peter reviewed all of the material I had forgotten, and in addition, taught me how to understand the concepts of Calculus and helped me make a connection between all of the units. Because of this, I felt very confident when taking an exam. I cannot thank him enough!

I went to Dr. K for the GRE examination, and he really helped me to hone in on the concepts I needed in order to confidently take the exam. We started with the basic math skills, which was very helpful, and went on to go over each individual problem I completed in the ETS GRE workbook he recommended. His knowledge and effective teaching method allowed me to actually understand the problems and not simply memorize how to complete them. The skills I learned through my lessons with Dr. K allowed me to improve my percentile rank from when I took the exam with no studying. Additionally, I am planning on taking the exam once more to see if I can improve even more. I would highly recommend him as a tutor not only for the GREs, but for any math-related subject.

As soon as I started summer six weeks calculus course I realized that I’m going to need outside help. Thanks to WyzAnt I found Dr Peter who helped me to catch up on the course material very fast. Dr. Peter explained to me concepts of calculus and helped me to connect them in my mind. We also reviewed some trigonometry that i have already forgotten. With his help, I got a B+ in a course and understood the material.

I approached Dr. Kirby for tutoring in the Quantitative Reasoning portion of the revised GRE's. I had taken them early in the summer and had gotten scores that fell in the 69th percentile. I knew that I needed to get a higher score to make me more competitive for graduate programs. Dr. Kirby traveled to my house and provided excellent tutoring. He was kind, patient, and worked with me from an analytical standpoint. He taught me not only how to do solve the problems I was having a hard time with, but also excellent strategies on HOW to take the test. I recently got my scores back on my second attempt and they fell in the 82nd percentile. I am very happy with these results and strongly endorse Dr. Kirby as a tutor. Thank you!

Thank you for stepping up in the 11th hour to help our daughter. She was very happy with the sessions and you were able to answer all her questions. She feels that you went above and beyond by giving her extra reference materials that helped her. We are very appreciative.

Peter was a life saver due to the fact that I needed to gain more knowledge for educational purposes ASAP. Within two months I was capable of performing at a level where I needed to be in order to pass a required state test. Not only did I pass the math portion, I excelled much higher than I initially expected with flying colors. It was such a pleasure working with him each week. I truly looked forward to each session. There was not one time I walked out of our meeting not feeling more confident and/or motivated. By the end of our lessons, I even found myself applying what I had learned into my daily life. Because of Peter's patience, time and willingness for me to grasp the material, I was successful in achieving what I had set out to learn. I highly recommend him to anyone because I’m confident that he will only be beneficial to your requests and needs. Thanks Peter!

I have to admit, I was looking for the cheapest tutor I could find, so Peter was not my first choice. But, I'm very glad I decided to meet with him. He is honestly the best tutor I've ever had. He takes the time to figure out where the root of my problems with algebra begin, instead of doing the work for me. He also explains everything in great detail and shows me shortcuts.

We've already covered order of operations, PEMDAS, distribution, the FOIL method, exponents of numbers, variables and parentheses as well as factoring. All of these topics were covered in 2 sessions and I fully understand all of them now.

Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Peter K. as a tutor. He is reliable and is helping me because he wants me to do well, not just to make a little extra cash.

Math:

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

My qualification for tutoring GMAT is based upon (1) my academic record and (2) my workplace experience. Academic achievements include a BS (with honors)in Applied Physics and a Doctorate in Engineering Physics from Oxford University. This academic background requires considerably more advanced mathematical and analytical skills than are required for the GMAT. On the management front, I moved from a staff position at Oxford University to industry in 1974 as a section manager for the aerospace division of a privately owned instrumentation company. In 1982 I set up a subsidiary company specializing in aerospace products, with the position of VP/General Manager. Subsequently I became Engineering Vice President for the entire company. Over the last 20 years I have given technical presentations and workshops throughout Europe and North America, to delegations from China, Russia, and to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). I retired in 2004 to pursue my strongest interest - a career as a personal tutor.

I offer (as with for all my courses) the unique Oxford University tutoring style for the GRE, which is one of my most popular tutoring subjects.

My experience over the last 10 years is that most GRE students are accomplished in the arts, but have difficulty with mathematical analysis.

I am always pleased to be able to help anyone who is ready to commit to succeed.
