University of North Carolina at Wilmington (Elementary Education)
I am a graduate of UNC-Wilmington with a BA in Elementary Education with a focus in psychology and a minor in history. I graduated with a 3.85 GPA while being a military wife of a deployed soldier and mother. I have been lucky to be a stay at home mom since graduating but I do have experience in tutoring. I have tutored special needs, homeschoolers, and children ranging from elementary to high school level. My aim is always to raise the achievements of my pupils beyond their own expectations with challenging and rewarding lessons. I am a friendly and supportive person who gets excellent results by making lessons fun as well as informative. My pupils have fun while they study and are always proud of their progress. I try to encourage a genuine interest in any subject studied.
Aside from tutoring school age children, I have experience and have volunteered teaching adults to read and write and preparing adults to take their GED test. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
